Desktop PC Upgrade — Graphics Card and Drive Transfer
I moved a GeForce GTX graphics card and several storage drives from an older desktop into a newer PC, cleaned the newer system, and checked startup, video output, and drive detection.
Diagnosed a failed liquid-cooling pump and replaced the cooler to resolve severe CPU overheating and shutdowns during gaming.
A client reported that their PC shut down when launching games and that CPU temperatures exceeded 110°C. During initial diagnostics, I observed the temperature rise from approximately 50°C to 85°C within five minutes in the BIOS, with temperatures continuing to climb. The computer had not been serviced for four years, so I first removed accumulated dust and replaced the thermal paste. Further testing showed that the overheating persisted. I traced the problem to a failed liquid-cooling pump, which was preventing coolant circulation. I explained the findings to the client, recommended replacement options, and ordered their approved cooler. After replacing the cooling system and applying fresh thermal paste, I configured fan speeds and temperature controls. Gaming and diagnostic tests confirmed that the overheating issue had been resolved.
I managed the diagnosis, client consultation, replacement sourcing, installation, configuration, and final testing.
